Interleaved Practice
Instead of doing 20 problems of the exact same formula in a row (blocked practice), shuffle problem types from chapters 1, 2, and 3 together so you have to figure out WHICH method to use.
Shuffling problem types trains you for the hardest part of real exams: recognizing which formula applies when nobody tells you.
You ace homework because every problem in Section 4.2 uses the Section 4.2 formula, then freeze when the midterm mixes them up.
- Collect 3 to 4 practice problems from at least three different recent topics.
- Scramble the order so no two consecutive problems use the same formula.
- Before solving each problem, write down WHY you chose that specific formula.
